As Co-Chairs of International Psychogeriatric Association 2008 European Meeting, we cordially invite you to attend this exciting international event. The meeting is being held in association with the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and will take place 8-11 April 2008 in our home city of Dublin, Ireland.
The theme, Mental Health and Ageing – Towards a New Age of Enlightenment, is an extension of IPA’s mission. The meeting will take a truly international, multidisciplinary and diverse approach to its content in order to fully reflect the rich diversity of themes that support better mental health for older people.
Robin Jacoby, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry and Editor of the Oxford Textbook of Old Age Psychiatry will present the Raymond Levy Lecture. Following the opening session, a wide variety of interdisciplinary topics will be covered within the plenary, symposia, free communication and workshop programming. We are assembling an internationally-renowned group of scientists, clinicians, practitioners and experts in their field, to contribute to the core program while also providing opportunities for bright, able, up-and-coming young researchers to present their data and new ideas.
The program will be comprehensive, stimulating, and informative. Innovative sessions on basic and translational research will parallel multidisciplinary sessions dealing with state of the art practice issues for practitioners. Whether your interest in psychogeriatrics lies in learning more about what to do in the clinic or at the bench, you will find something to pique your interest at the Dublin meeting.
In addition to the outstanding scientific program, a wonderful cultural experience in Dublin is guaranteed, beginning with an evening at the Guinness Storehouse. The event will include a buffet dinner, local entertainment, an amazing view of Dublin from the famous Gravity Bar and, of course, a pint of Guinness. This is one of Dublin’s most popular destinations and it promises to be an evening to remember, setting the scene for what we hope will be an unforgettable visit to Ireland.
Your experience and knowledge would substantially contribute to the meeting and we hope to see you in Dublin!
Sincerely,
Brian Lawlor, Co-Chair
Greg Swanwick, Co-Chair
